Embedded Microcontroller News - Sep. 04, 2013 - Altera Corporation and Micron Technology Inc. have announced the successful completion of interoperability testing between Altera’s Stratix® V FPGA and Micron’s Hybrid Memory Cube (HMC).
Micron’s Hybrid Memory Cube (HMC) has emerged as a leading solution for addressing the limitations of traditional memory technologies.
HMC boasts some impressive performance improvements:
- Bandwidth: Delivers up to 15 times the bandwidth of a DDR3 module.
- Energy Efficiency: Consumes 70% less energy compared to existing technologies.
- Footprint: Occupies 90% less space than current memory solutions.
Altera’s Stratix-V FPGA is poised to leverage the full potential of HMC by utilizing a full 16 transceiver HMC link. This integration promises significant performance gains for applications requiring high-bandwidth, low-power memory access.
