This page outlines the differences between SHC68 C68 cable types (D1, D2, D3, D4) and specifically compares the SH68 68 D1, D2, D3 and SHC68-C68-D4 cables.
Introduction
SHC-C68 cables are manufactured by National Instruments (NI). There are four primary types of SHC-C68 cables, each designed with specific connector types, impedance characteristics, shielding levels, and intended applications in mind.
The figure above illustrates a high-speed digital cable from National Instruments, specifically the SHC68-C68 type.
SH68-68-D1 Cable
- Connector A/B: Female 0.050 D-type
- Shielding: Single
- Impedance: 79 Ohm
- Applications: Recommended for use with counter/timer devices.
SHC68-C68 D2 Cable
- Connector A/B: VHDCI
- Shielding: Single
- Impedance: 50 Ohm
- Availability: No longer available; replaced by the D4 type.
SHC68-C68 D3 Cable
- Connector A/B: VHDCI
- Shielding: Double
- Impedance: 100 Ohm
- Applications: Used for DDC (Digital Data and Control).
SHC68-C68 D4 Cable
- Connector A/B: VHDCI
- Shielding: Single
- Impedance: 50 Ohm
- Applications: Used for HSDIO (High-Speed Digital I/O).
