Texas Instruments (TI) has developed several series of microcontrollers to cater to various application needs. These include:

  • MSP430: A 16-bit MCU designed for ultra-low power applications, such as those found in smartphones.
  • C2000: A 32-bit MCU targeted for real-time control applications.
  • Tiva ARM MCUs: These include the TM4C123x and TM4C129x series, built on the ARM architecture.
  • Hercules Safety ARM MCUs: Based on Cortex-R4 and Cortex-M3 cores, these MCUs are designed for safety-critical applications.

The MSP430 is one of the latest ultra-low power 16-bit MCUs designed by Texas Instruments.

Atmel Ships SAM D20 Cortex-M0+ Microcontrollers

Atmel Corporation ships its new Atmel® SAM D20 microcontrollers. This is the first series in a new family of ultra-low power embedded Flash microcontrollers based on the ARM® Cortex®-M0+ processor.
