This page provides information about the list of BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) channels, covering both advertising and data channels.
Introduction
- BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) is the latest in the series of Bluetooth standards published by Bluetooth SIG. The latest version is 5.1, released after v4.2 and v5.0.
- Devices (Initiator/master and Advertiser/slave) communicate in point-to-point and broadcast modes using advertising and data channels.
Figure 1: Bluetooth Smart or BLE frequency channels
The figure above depicts a list of BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) channels. Bluetooth operates in the 2.4 GHz ISM Band, spanning from 2400 to 2483.5 MHz. BLE channels are spaced 1 MHz apart.
Let’s delve into the use and function of these BLE channels, along with their frequency values.
BLE Advertising Channels
- These channels carry broadcast data for applications.
- They facilitate the discovery of slaves for connection purposes.
- BLE devices use these channels to transmit/receive advertising packets of various types, carrying advertising channel PDUs.
BLE Channel Number | Frequency Value |
---|---|
37 | 2402 MHz |
38 | 2426 MHz |
39 | 2480 MHz |
BLE Data Channels
- Once a connection is established between master and slave, devices can exchange data.
- This is achieved by exchanging data channel PDUs during scheduled connection events.
- Master and slave BLE devices utilize these data channels for transmission/reception.
