5G boasts impressive speeds, potentially reaching 10 Gbps over the air. This is a significant leap, offering speeds approximately 66 times faster than 4G wireless technologies.

A key feature of 5G is its ability to seamlessly integrate with previous generation technologies. This allows 5G devices to communicate and interact with networks based on GSM, LTE, WLAN, WiMAX, and more.

Essentially, a 5G device supports multiple Radio Access Technologies (RATs). 5G phones are designed to operate across a range of frequency bands, including:

  • Above 6 GHz: Supporting millimeter wave bands.
  • Below 6 GHz
  • Below 1 GHz

This support for licensed spectrum, shared licensed spectrum, and unlicensed spectrum enables interoperability and usage across various technologies and geographical regions. 5G supports signal bandwidths from 0.5 to 2 GHz, and employs advanced modulation and access techniques such as OFDM, FBMC, UFMC, and GFDM. A crucial benefit is its low latency, aiming for end-to-end latency of less than 1ms.
