Qualcomm Multimode Modem Supports Multiple RATs
January 31, 2014: Qualcomm has recently launched a Multimode modem supporting multiple Radio Access Technologies (RATs), including GSM, CDMA, and LTE (TDD/FDD). It’s primarily designed to support LTE carrier aggregation deployments for 40 MHz channel bandwidth in Category 6, achieving download speeds of up to 300 Mbps.
The Gobi 9x35, built using a 20 nm process, is Qualcomm’s multimode modem. It’s compatible with the WTR3925 RF transceiver chip, which is designed using a 28 nm process.
Key Features of the Qualcomm Multimode Modem
- Supports carrier aggregation up to 40 MHz (LTE TDD/FDD Category 6)
- Supports GSM, CDMA 1x, DC-HSPA, EVDO Rev.B, and TD-SCDMA
- Supports channel bandwidths of 5/10/15/20 MHz
- Supports DC HSUPA and dual-frequency band multi-carrier HSPA+
The Gobi 9x35 modem, when paired with the WTR3925 RF transceiver, provides 2x faster LTE Advanced, supporting Category 6 with speeds reaching approximately 300 Mbps.
Qualcomm is a leader in 2G, 3G, 4G, and next-generation wireless technologies.
