Oct. 17, 2013 - Toshiba has launched the TaRF5 SP10T RF Antenna Switch, designed for smartphones and other applications.

Its compact size and low insertion loss make it particularly well-suited for smartphone integration. The new switch utilizes “TaRF5,” a next-generation TarfSOI™ process leveraging silicon on insulator technology.

The TaRF5-based samples achieve a significant improvement over the previous TaRF3 process, offering:

  • 25% reduction in insertion loss
  • 40% reduction in size

These improvements contribute to extending battery operating life. With the rise of advanced wireless technologies like LTE and LTE Advanced, multiple port switches are essential, often handling complex mathematical operations. Toshiba’s advanced process technology in this RF antenna switch addresses the demands of these cutting-edge wireless systems.
