Orange France announced on September 10, 2013, that it will expand its LTE (Long-Term Evolution) network to cover the entire capital city of Paris and 37 other towns in the Paris area. This announcement positions Orange as the second major provider, after SFR, to offer LTE network services in the French capital.
Orange aims to achieve approximately 40 percent coverage of the French population by the end of 2013.
According to a report from the French Spectrum Regulator ANFR (Agence Nationale des Fréquences), Orange already has around 2000 operational 4G base stations throughout France.
SFR and Bouygues Telecom are the other key telecom operators in France. They possess approximately 500 and 450 4G base stations, respectively, across the country.
