LNB is the short form of Low Noise Block Converter. It’s a module that combines the functionalities of an LNA (Low Noise Amplifier) and a Down Converter. Essentially, the LNB performs low noise amplification and frequency down conversion on the incoming RF signal.

LNB = LNA + Down Converter

The LNB is primarily used in VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminal) applications. For instance, in a C-band VSAT system, the LNB converts the input RF frequency of around 3.7 GHz to a 70 MHz IF (Intermediate Frequency) carrier frequency.
