This page lists manufacturers and vendors of DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) transmitter equipment.
Introduction
Various digital radio standards exist, including DAB, HD Radio, and DRM. DAB and its upgraded version, DAB+, operate in the UHF and VHF bands, specifically in the 174-240 MHz frequency range.
Transmitter equipment receives AC power as input and outputs RF power to the broadcasting antenna. DAB+ technology boasts significantly lower power consumption compared to FM, reportedly up to 50 times less. DAB/DAB+ services are available in 45 countries/territories worldwide and continuing to grow.
DAB uses the MP2 audio codec, while DAB+ utilizes the AAC+ audio codec. DAB offers better spectrum and power efficiency and provides superior audio quality. It also supports data services for mobile, portable, and fixed receivers. The relevant standards can be downloaded from the ETSI website. Some transmitter equipment supports GPS, GLONASS, and other positioning systems.
