LTE EARFCN stands for E-UTRA Absolute Radio Frequency Channel Number. This page explains the LTE EARFCN equation and provides a table for calculating downlink EARFCN (NDLN_{DL}) and uplink EARFCN (NULN_{UL}).

A link to an LTE EARFCN calculator is also provided, which is very useful for LTE EARFCN to frequency and vice versa conversion. The EARFCN number is within the range of 0 to 65535. The relationship between LTE carrier frequency (MHz) and EARFCN is described below.

LTE EARFCN Equation

The following equations relate downlink and uplink frequencies to their respective EARFCNs:

Fdownlink=FDL_Low+0.1(NDLNDL_Offset)F_{downlink} = F_{DL\_Low} + 0.1 \cdot (N_{DL} - N_{DL\_Offset})

Fuplink=FUL_Low+0.1(NULNUL_Offset)F_{uplink} = F_{UL\_Low} + 0.1 \cdot (N_{UL} - N_{UL\_Offset})

Where:

  • NDLN_{DL} is the downlink EARFCN.
  • NULN_{UL} is the uplink EARFCN.
  • NDL_OffsetN_{DL\_Offset} is the offset used to calculate the downlink EARFCN.
  • NUL_OffsetN_{UL\_Offset} is the offset used to calculate the uplink EARFCN.
