LiTRA: LTE Integrated Trunked Radio Explained

This page explains LiTRA basics and shows the LiTRA network diagram.

LiTRA stands for LTE Integrated Trunked Radio.

Introduction

LiTRA is based on the 3GPP standard and LTE networks. It’s a trunking communications solution developed by Huawei. It helps operators deliver network solutions to customers requiring high security and safety.

Figure 1 depicts a LiTRA network built upon an existing LTE network. This system, developed by Huawei, provides mission-critical communication.

It’s used for mission-critical applications over LTE. As shown, the LiTRA server and dispatch console are two new system components added to the existing LTE network.

Installing a mobile client on the LTE smartphone is necessary to communicate with the LiTRA server. LiTRA network uses GCS AS (Group Communication Service Application Server). The system requires upgrading the LiTRA software package in the eNodeB.
