GSAT-7 Successfully Placed in Geostationary Orbit

All eleven transponders operating in UHF, S, C, and Ku-bands have been successfully switched on as of September 18, 2013. Their performance is nominal, and in-orbit testing of all communication transponders is in progress. GSAT-7 has been positioned at the orbital slot of 74 degrees East longitude in geostationary orbit.

This multi-band communication satellite, GSAT-7, launched from Kourou, French Guiana, on August 30th, has been placed in geostationary orbit at an altitude of 36,000 km on September 3, 2013.

ISRO, India’s premier satellite organization, successfully launched GSAT-7, an advanced communication satellite. As planned by ISRO, the Master Control Facility at Hassan, Karnataka, began acquiring radio signals five minutes before the separation of GSAT-7 from the Ariane-5 launch vehicle.
